Family businesses are crucial to the health of Europe's economy. They contribute more than 50% to the eurozone's private sector activity and are playing a crucial role in the recovery of many of the hard-pressed economies of the region.

This is why CampdenFB recognises this dynamic sector through the European Families in Business Awards, with 2020 marking the ninth year of the ceremony.

In 2020 the awards gala will take place in Munich on 1 July. Family businesses have a huge influence on Germany’s economy—nine out of 10 private companies in Germany were family businesses in 2017, according to the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research and the University of Mannheim’s Institute for SME Research.

Germany's family business community employs almost 60% of all workers in the private sector. Between 2007 and 2016, the 500 largest family enterprises created more jobs than the DAX companies, making a sustainable contribution to job growth in Germany and worldwide.
