Strong demand for leather and silk accessories has seen French luxury group Hermes beat forecasts for its first half operating profit, up 14% to €584 million.

The fashion group said growth was balanced in all regions, with Asia ex-Japan and the Americas both seeing growth of 17% compared to the previous year.

Bernard Arnault’s LVMH has announced half year revenues of €13.7 billion, with organic revenue growth up 8% compared to the same period last year.

The group said it continues to experience strong momentum in Asia and the US, and continued to grow in Europe despite economic uncertainty.

The Weston family's Canadian grocery chain, Loblaw, announced revenues of CAD$7.5 billion (€5.5 billion) for the second quarter of 2013 – an increase of 2% compared to the same period last year – and a 14.1% increase in net earnings to CAD$178 million.
