Multi-billionaire Warren Buffett, chairman and chief executive of investment company Berkshire Hathaway, has confirmed his son Howard will head the family business after his death.

Multi-billionaire Warren Buffett, chairman and chief executive of investment company Berkshire Hathaway, has confirmed his son Howard will head the family business after his death.

In an interview with US TV programme 60Minutes, which aired on 11 December, Buffett, 81, said he wants his second-oldest child Howard, 56, to succeed him as chairman of the Omaha, Nebraska-based company.

“In the music industry everyone thought I was the son of Jimmy Buffett,”  says Peter Buffett. The Buffett Peter was referring to is a famous American singer-songwriter, known for such hits as “Come Monday” and “Margaritaville” – but no relation to Peter.

Peter Buffett cites an amusing story about when he decided to drop out of university and pursue a career as a musician.

“In the music industry everyone thought I was the son of Jimmy Buffett,” he says. The Buffett Peter was referring to is a famous American singer-songwriter, known for such hits as “Come Monday” and “Margaritaville” – but no relation to Peter.

No one thought he was the son of Warren Buffett, the world’s most famous investor and one of the richest people on earth.

Microsoft owner Bill Gates has been over taken in a world rich list by a family business owner.

Microsoft owner Bill Gates has been overtaken in a world rich list by a family business owner. Carlos Slim, (pictured), who runs the Mexican telecommunications empire with his family, has been ranked second in a list of the world's richest people after narrowly being beaten to the top spot.

Warren Buffet tops the list with an estimated worth of $62 billion. Slim has $60 billion while Microsoft owner Bill Gates, who has topped the list for more than a decade, is ranked third with $58 billion.
