A Swiss-domiciled single family office has appointed a London property investment manager to manage and acquire a portfolio of up to £100 million of residential real estate in the city.

Newcore Capital has been mandated to buy properties classified as houses in multiple occupation (HMO), which have typically been divided up into flats.

The real estate investment firm says it is their third single family office client, with the other two headquartered in the UK.

At the same time, family offices are dealing with a unique combination of historically low interest rates and inflationary pressures. A lack of liquidity, not just yields, in some markets and asset classes has also become a key investment concern for family office executives.

Family-controlled investment company Wendel said that it would appeal a €1.5 million fine imposed by the French market regulator AMF, as it attempts to bolster its reputation.

In a statement on 17 January, the Paris-based company said: "Wendel will appeal this ruling at the Paris Court of Appeal, which will hear in fact and law the evidence and key arguments presented by the group in order to demonstrate that Wendel has complied with the law and the regulations in force at the time."
